About the ESG
The endosleeve
An endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG, endosleeve) is a new method to lose weight by reducing the size of the stomach through the mouth. This technique differs from a classical surgical operation as no cutaneous incisions are made to perform the operation. Our clinic is one of the first clinics in Belgium to perform this procedure.
The ESG should be seen as an aid in achieving weight loss in combination with a healthy lifestyle. This procedure reduces the volume of and the capacity for food in the stomach.

A volume reduction of the stomach helps with weight loss, however it is important to follow the post-operative diet after the procedure and adopt a healthy lifestyle to achieve a successful weight loss and avoid complications.
To qualify for an ESG, you must fulfill certain conditions:
A BMI of more than 28 kg / m2
You are motivated and prepared to adjust your lifestyle and diet
You are prepared to bear the costs of the procedure.

Results of an ESG
Because the ESG is a relatively new procedure, long term results are not yet available. To a large extent the result depends on your lifestyle after the operation and the weight loss varies from person to person.
Recent studies show that after 24 months the average weight loss is 20% of the starting weight and that people with a BMI between 30 and 35 kg/m2 have the best result.
Price of an ESG
At our clinic we offer different plans to organise your ESG procedure. One of the options is the all-in-one package that includes costs for the preoperative analyses, hospital stay, the ESG, postoperative care and medication, hotel stay in 4-star hotel the second night after the procedure and taxi transfer from and to the airport or train station.
